Some of you asked me what broke me

This is the truth.
Everything started with him.
I had loved this man for years. And the truth is… that never changed.
With time, you simply learn how to live with that feeling.
I waited for him for more than sixteen years. And at some point, life gave us a chance to finally be together.
But only for six months.
Six months in which I felt things I had never truly experienced before.
What love feels like. What peace feels like. What it means to have someone by your side.
For the first time in my life, I felt whole.
But it didn't last.
He had to return to his life. We tried to hold on to the relationship, but reality was stronger than us.
And the hardest part was that I couldn't just remain his friend.
Because I loved him.
Then came the moment that broke me.
I was trying to hold on to something that was falling apart. Trying to find a way. To save it. To keep him.
Until I asked myself a very difficult question:
Why am I doing this?
Is this love… or is it fear of being left alone with myself?
And then I realised something that changed everything.
The root of it all was not him.
The root was me.
But there was something else I came to understand.
When it comes to relationships, there are always two people.
And no matter how deeply you feel… the other person also has their own will, their own path, their own choices.
We cannot force things.
We cannot convince someone to choose us. We cannot make something happen just because we want it.
Because what feels right for you may not be right for the other person.
And that too must be accepted.
The truth is simple.
When there is desire on both sides — there is always a way.
But when it isn't there… no amount of effort can create it.
I began to observe myself.
To see the patterns I kept repeating. To realise how I was searching in another person for what I wasn't giving to myself.
And that was the beginning of something new.
Today, I can say something important.
I still love him.
But I no longer fight it.
I no longer try to change what happened. I no longer try to control what is not mine to control.
Sometimes things don't happen to stay. They happen to wake us up.
Every situation teaches us something. Every pain shows us something. Every loss brings us closer to ourselves.
But only if we accept it.
Forgiveness was the key.
Towards him. Towards myself. Towards everything that happened.
And when you stop resisting… when you accept… when you surrender…
Not everything is in your control.
What came after was simple. And that's what made it so powerful.
I no longer felt the need to prove myself to anyone.
Life is beautiful. And we should be grateful for every single day we are given — because tomorrow is promised to no one.
Live each day as if it is a celebration. Because it is.
The right person will come.
But that person will be part of your happiness — not the source of it.
